Roundtable for theater students will include panel of professionals
East End high school students interested in a career in the theater will get a chance to hear what it’s like from four professionals — their experience includes writing, directing, producing and lighting design — at a free panel discussion next month in Southampton.
Sponsored by the East End Arts Teeny Awards program, which has picked the best high school performers and productions since 2002, the program at the Southampton Village Cultural Arts Center is free to students who bring their school ID. Non-high school students will be charged $10 to register early, or $15 at the door.
“This is the first time we’ve done this. Getting 100 people would be great,” said Pat Snyder, executive director of East End Arts. She said Broadway producer Thomas Farrell, who will moderate, has been a strong supporter of the Teeny awards program.
The panelists include playwright and producer Tina Andrews, producer and director Nick Demos, stage manager and lighting designer Kyle Rosenberg, and composer Kim Sherman.
The program will be held Nov. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. People who register early online will be able to submit questions for the panelists.
More information on the event and registration can be made by going to eastendarts.org and clicking on the upcoming events link, then clicking on the “Is Broadway Calling?” box in the calendar.
