Sag Harbor school officials to review proposed bond issues totaling $9M
Sag Harbor school officials expect to get a report at their Aug. 5 meeting on two proposed bond issues which the school board expects to go to the voters on Nov. 13. The bonds would total $9,179,876.
Interim Superintendent Carl Bonuso said that, since the district turned down a construction referendum in 2009, needs have changed in the district, and that some projects have been removed from the original proposal.
The district now is looking at spending $7,559,876 to renovate and improve the Pierson Middle School-High School auditorium, and $1,620,000 to install synthetic turf at the athletic field behind the school building.
The results of the vote on one project would have no effect on the other, Bonuso said. It is too early to determine the impact of the referendum on the local tax rate, officials said, because the assessed value of the district could change over the next several months and interest rates may also be in flux.
