Sidewalk work near Hauppauge High School to begin
Work to replace a sidewalk on a county road near Hauppauge High School is set to begin later this month.
New concrete and drainage facilities will be laid on the north side of Townline Road, County Road 76, between Lincoln Boulevard and Hoffman Avenue, Legis. John M. Kennedy Jr. (R-Nesconset) said in a news release. The project is scheduled to begin on June 24 and is expected to be completed by the end of summer.
The new sidewalk will replace concrete that has been damaged by uplifted tree roots and other conditions, Kennedy said. The work should make the sidewalk safer for students who use it to go to school, Kennedy said.
“It’s critical for school safety,” he said.
In preparation for construction, minor utility relocations will take place in the weeks before work begins, Kennedy said. Residents of the area should remove plants, sprinklers, fencing and other items along the road to ensure they are not removed by workers when construction begins, he said.
The project is expected to slow traffic on Townline Road when work is being done from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, Kennedy said.
