The Southampton Town Independence Party has endorsed candidates for the fall elections, including allies to Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst, an Independence Party member who is hoping to get a majority on the town board.

The party endorsed Brad Bender, an Independence Party member, and Frank Zappone, a Democrat who is deputy supervisor to Throne-Holst, said Assemb. Fred Thiele (I-Sag Harbor).

Thiele, chair of the Southampton Independence Party, said Throne-Holst “has done a good job without a majority.” But, he said, “She deserves to have her team there.”

Earlier this month, the Conservative Party endorsed Republicans Stanley Glinka of Hampton Bays and Jeffrey Mansfield of Bridgehampton for town board. It did not make an endorsement in the supervisor’s race, where Republicans have selected former Supervisor Linda Kabot.

The town board has two open seats, with Councilman Chris Nuzzi term-limited and Councilman Jim Malone not seeking re-election.

The Southampton Town Independence Party, which met Friday, also picked incumbent Suffolk County Legis. Jay Schneiderman (I-Montauk), who is being challenged by Nuzzi.

For highway superintendent, the Independence Party endorsed incumbent Alex Gregor.
