2 reported injured in Bay Shore fire

An early morning fire Wednesday at a fencing manufacturer in Bay Shore sent one firefighter and one other person to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, fire officials said. -- JOHN VALENTI


Proposed Walgreens: Hempstead Town’s board of appeals meets today at 2 p.m. in the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion, adjacent to Hempstead Town Hall, for a public hearing about a controversial proposal to open a Walgreens on Meacham Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike. Bus Hearing: Plans to increase bus fares for the first time in 20 years will be the subject of a public hearing today at 3 p.m. at the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge. The county plans to increase Suffolk County Transit fares from $1.50 to $2. Check staff updates at newsday.com.
