Last week, Nassau County police hosted a Pharmacy Security Summit in response to the growing concerns of store owners, pharmacists and their staff about the misuse of prescription medications -- and the efforts of addicts to get them. On Tuesday, Suffolk County officials will begin its own initiative in an effort to curb violence at pharmacies in the wake of deadly robberies in Seaford, where an off-duty federal agent and the suspect were killed, and Medford, where a Father's Day armed robbery by David Laffer and wife Melinda Brady left four shot dead. -- JOHN VALENTI
