Town of Hempstead sets Feb. 11 deadline to pay general taxes
Payments to the Town of Hempstead for the first half of the 2013 general taxes must be received or postmarked by Feb. 11.
Taxpayers can use several payment options offered by the Office of Receiver of Taxes, including extended hours, satellite offices, mobile tax office, drive-through payment window and online payments, officials said.
The main tax office, at 200 North Franklin St. in Hempstead, will be open on business days from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Feb. 11. The E-Z Pay Drive Thru Payment Window will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and only checks and money orders will be accepted. Taxpayers should bring their entire current tax bill with stub intact to receive an official receipt at time of payment.
Satellite offices at Rock Hall Museum (199 Broadway, Lawrence) and Levittown Hall (201 Levittown Pkwy., Hicksville) will be open to receive checks and money orders for tax payments from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 5, 6, 7, 8 and 11.
Residents can pay at the mobile tax offices visiting several locations throughout the town. They also can pay via credit card or e-check through the town’s website at toh.li or by calling Official Payments Corporation at 877-306-6056. A 2.5 percent convenience fee will be incurred for credit card payments and $2 fee will be charged for e-check transactions.
