Uniondale High School’s Rhythm of the Knights show choir was named “Most Promising New Group” at the Fame Show Choir National Championship Series Finals in Chicago April 26-27.

That showing earned the school’s choir and jazz band one more performance — on Thursday’s edition of “The Today Show.”

The students were there as part of the “Today” Varsity Week. Along with a performance of the song “Rhythm of the Night,” Uniondale High School Show Choir director Lynnette Carr-Hicks, and show choir student performer Courtney Porter were interviewed by “Today” personalities Natalie Morales, Matt Lauer, Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie.

Carr-Hicks, a drama and music teacher who's starred on Broadway, started the show choir with 15 students in September 2010.
