I am one of two reporters, along with Patrick Whittle, covering the Town of Hempstead. I also report on the villages of Hempstead, Freeport, Garden City, Malverne, Valley Stream and others. Two NY Rising meetings set
Two NY Rising Community Planning Committees are hosting public meetings about the state-sponsored New York Rising Community Reconstruction Program.
Residents from Island Park, Oceanside, Barnum Island and Harbor Isle are encouraged to attend a meeting Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Oceanside School District office, at 145 Merle Ave., Room W-22 in Oceanside.

Nassau County Legis. Carrié Solages (D-Elmont) is forming an Elmont/Valley Stream public safety committee with the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association, officials said.
Solages and the Nassau PBA plan to join forces to talk about policing and enforcement issues in Elmont and Valley Stream since the Fifth Precinct became a community policing center last year.

Memo of agreement with CSEA on buyout The Hempstead Town Board on Tuesday unanimously approved a memorandum of agreement with the Civil Service Employees Association that calls for town employees to take advantage of the early retirement incentive.
