Roundup: Brookhaven Town collecting e-waste, unused pills

Electronic waste and unused prescription drugs will be collected for disposal Saturday in Mount Sinai.

Televisions, computer equipment, printers, videocassette recorders, DVD players, stereos, radios, cell phones and other eletronic devices will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Town of Brookhaven’s Rose Caracappa Center, 739 Route 25A, Mount Sinai. Prescription drugs also will be collected.

Trio wanted for stealing sunglasses at Macy's in Bay Shore

Three people are wanted for grand larceny in connection with the theft of sunglasses last Sunday in Bay Shore, according to a news release from the Suffolk County Police Department.

Two men and a woman entered the Macy’s at Westfield South Shore Mall, placed several pairs of sunglasses in a shopping bag and left the store around 3 p.m., police said.

Riverhead: Funding short for trail extension plan in Calverton

Riverhead Town wants to extend a bicycle and pedestrian trail 8.5 miles around the perimeter of the Enterprise Park at Calverton, but lacks the funds, town board members said Thursday.

The project will cost $250,000, based on estimates from the highway department, Bruce Kagan of the Riverhead Town Alternative Transportation Committee told the town board during a work session.

Roundup: Huntington Town OKs $2.3M bond for Halesite bulkhead repairs

The Huntington Town Board has authorized a $2.3 million bond for the emergency reconstruction of the Halesite Bulkhead.

The bulkhead was damaged in the record Aug. 13 rainfall.

It was already slated for repair next year, but the storm created sinkholes across the North Shore and made the Halesite spot too vulnerable to wait.

Brookhaven IDA OKs $16M tax break for Ronkonkoma Hub plan

The Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency has approved a $16 million tax cut package for the Ronkonkoma Hub retail and residential project.
