Relief fair in Bellmore for Sandy victims

Representatives from the state Department of Financial Services will attend a “resource fair” for superstorm Sandy victims in Bellmore Thursday.

The 65-year-old Malibu Shore Club in Lido Beach, which was closed and heavily damaged by superstorm Sandy, will open for the summer on Saturday.
Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray attended a reopening ceremony Friday at the club, which is owned by the town.

Hempstead officials plan to gather at the site of Charles Lindbergh’s historic flight to Paris on Monday to rally for the state to designate May 20 as “Trans-Atlantic Flight Day in New York.”
Assemb. Edward Ra (R-Franklin Square) intends to submit a resolution calling for the designation. Lindbergh flew to Paris from Roosevelt Field on May 20, 1927, the first solo nonstop trans-Atlantic flight.
