Free foreclosure clinic in Mineola

Malibu Shore Club to reopen for the summer on Saturday

The 65-year-old Malibu Shore Club in Lido Beach, which was closed and heavily damaged by superstorm Sandy, will open for the summer on Saturday.

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray attended a reopening ceremony Friday at the club, which is owned by the town.

Hempstead officials plan to gather at the site of Charles Lindbergh’s historic flight to Paris on Monday to rally for the state to designate May 20 as “Trans-Atlantic Flight Day in New York.”

Assemb. Edward Ra (R-Franklin Square) intends to submit a resolution calling for the designation. Lindbergh flew to Paris from Roosevelt Field on May 20, 1927, the first solo nonstop trans-Atlantic flight.

Hempstead Town Clerk Mark Bonilla's trial date to be set this month

The opening date of the trial of Hempstead Town Clerk Mark Bonilla will be selected on May 28, a spokesman for the Nassau district attorney’s office said Tuesday.

Bonilla was charged in September with misdemeanors stemming from allegations he tried to obtain “intimate and personal photographs” of a female subordinate who had accused him of sexual harassment, according to a criminal complaint.
