Moody’s Investors Service affirmed North Babylon School District’s credit rating, citing the district’s strong finances.
The agency announced last week it was assigning an Aa3 rating to $16 million in refunding serial bonds expected to be issued Tuesday.
It also affirmed the same rating for $33.6 million of the district’s previously issued debt.

The Town of Babylon is ceremonially renaming a Wyandanch road in honor of a longtime resident who died earlier this year.
The board recently voted to change the name of a nearly two-mile stretch of Straight Path between Main Avenue and Cumberbach Street to John Cleveland Carter Way.

North Babylon School Superintendent Patricia Godek has announced that she will retire Dec. 31, bringing to a close a 40-year career in education.
Godek has led the district for three and a half years as it adopted new Common Core standards and weathered a difficult 2013-14 budget year when voters initially rejected the proposed budget.

Town of Babylon property owners will have to speed up graffiti cleanup under an amendment to the town’s anti-graffiti ordinance.
The town board approved changes to the law on Monday that will cut the number of days property owners have to remove graffiti from 10 days to five.
