Hempstead officials plan to gather at the site of Charles Lindbergh’s historic flight to Paris on Monday to rally for the state to designate May 20 as “Trans-Atlantic Flight Day in New York.”

Assemb. Edward Ra (R-Franklin Square) intends to submit a resolution calling for the designation. Lindbergh flew to Paris from Roosevelt Field on May 20, 1927, the first solo nonstop trans-Atlantic flight.

The Levittown Community Council, in partnership with the Town of Hempstead, will host the seventh annual Earth Day cleanup Saturday.
