A rainy Fourth of July weather forecast is dampening Independence Day plans on Long Island.

The Port Jefferson fireworks show, which had been set to go off on Friday night, has been moved to Saturday.

Oyster Bay plans to borrow $30 million Wednesday to address cash flow problems.

The town would not have enough money in its general fund or highway fund to pay employees in July if it didn’t borrow the money, according to cash projections in a town securities prospectus.

The Melville Fire Department recently received a $24,863 federal grant to purchase 10 sets of firefighting personal protective equipment. The items can include helmet, boots, gloves, pants, hood, and coat.
