Woman gives birth in Nassau medical center parking lot

Zulma Gutierrez gave birth to her fourth child Tuesday morning at Nassau University Medical Center — in the parking lot.

When her water broke in the back of the ambulance, two police officers and a medic assisted her in delivering a healthy baby boy.

Westbury votes to end property search tip-offs

Westbury officials have amended village law to no longer require sending suspected code violators mail alerting them the village plans to seek a court-issued search warrant for their property.

The board on Thursday voted 5-0 to end the requirement, which Mayor Peter Cavallaro argued essentially alerts code violators that an investigation is underway.

Westbury officials said they hope to change a law requiring the village to send written notice to suspected code violators before seeking a court-issued search warrant.
