The increase, thanks to a state “Stop DWI” grant, comes in addition to the typical swell in patrol levels seen every Independence Day holiday weekend, according to Police Commissioner Lawrence Mulvey.

During this past Memorial Day weekend, Nassau and Suffolk police made a total of 112 DWI arrests, including 68 in Nassau alone.
