Ahead of next Tuesday’s budget revote, Port Jefferson school district Superintendent Max Riley sent out a letter to residents Thursday outlining changes to the budget that was handily defeated on May 18.

The previous budget would have raised the district's tax levy by 3.47 percent. It was defeated with 1,052 votes against and only 584 in favor.

The big change is that the district removed $433,000 from the previous budget proposal on the recommendation of a Citizens Budget Advisory Committee.
