Port Jefferson residents who can't make it to the village's master plan public meeting this evening can still take a live look at what’s going on. Tonight's discussion for the first time will be broadcast on the village’s website.

The session runs from 7 to 9 p.m. and will cover the results of a recent public survey.

Residents are encouraged to voice their opinions on Port Jeff's Facebook page.

Video of tonight's proceedings will be archived and available on the website, said Stephen Juliano, social media coordinator for Port Jefferson Village.

The village is hoping its premiere Webcast will encourage residents to take a more active role in local government.

"If it is found that a large number of viewers are watching and joining in the conversation, this setup could become commonplace at all of our public meetings in the future," Juliano said.
