Rehabilitated dolphin released

Roxanne, a 700-pound Risso's dolphin that was rescued from a Fire Island inlet on June 6, was rehabilitated and released into Shinnecock Bay Wednesday. Videojournalist: Brittany Wait (Aug. 28, 2013)

When U.S. Coast Guard officers found Roxanne, a 700-pound Risso's dolphin, beached on a Fire Island inlet sandbar on June 6, they said she appeared to be dead at first, but as they drew closer they saw her breathing. The Riverhead Foundation treated Roxanne for gastric bleeding and parasites, and released her back into the Atlantic Ocean on Aug. 28. Roxanne became the second Risso's dolphin to be rehabilitated and released in the country. | <a href=Here's the story " style="display:none" /> Here's the story " />
