Tall ships in Greenport
Greenport will be invaded by a fleet of tall ships this weekend -- where's Johnny Depp when you need him? Visitors can climb aboard a half-dozen historic vessels docked in town or even go for a sail on the Great Peconic Bay, searching for adventure. The whole village will take on a festival atmosphere, with streets closed to vehicular traffic. Live music will be performed on two stages. It's all part of Tall Ships Challenge, a bicentennial race commemorating the War of 1812. The race began in Savannah, Ga., earlier this month and is making its way up the East Coast.
