Rumors are swirling online that Brock Lesnar could make an appearance at Wrestlemania 28 in Miami this Sunday.

The rumors began after Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer reported this week that Lesnar is in negotiations with the WWE for a potential return. It’s unknown in what capacity or role Lesnar would return in, but the former UFC Champion is not a fan of the rigorous schedule of the WWE so it wouldn’t be for a long run. It would be more along the lines of a special attraction like The Rock or Undertaker.

Lesnar’s name was brought up to The Rock last week in an interview with The Associated Press about a potential match between the two at Wrestlemania 29.

"I'm not saying a thing," said a laughing, grinning Rock about facing Lesnar. "I didn't say anything."

Lesnar announced his retirement in December 2011 after a first round defeat to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141. Lesnar has softened his stance on the WWE and said a return to the company that made him famous is possible.

Returns or major debuts in the WWE usually don’t happen at Wrestlemania. For example, when Bill Goldberg signed with the WWE, he didn’t debut till after Wrestlemania. I don’t think the WWE would want to bring Lesnar back to the WWE and have his return potentially overshadow Rock vs. John Cena or Undertaker vs. Triple H.

There are also rumors that former WWE Champion Dave Batista could be making a appearance at 'Mania. That's great news for the Batista fans out there, but like I said, returns don't often happen at 'Mania. So, if Lesnar does appear, don't expect Batista to also appear. It's one or the other, folks.

However, the old wrestling cliché applies here: Never say never in the WWE.

A lot of internet sites have reported that if Lesnar is to appear Sunday, it would be to tease a match with The Rock at either Summerslam in August or Wrestlemania 29 at MetLife Stadium.

That sounds all well and good, but there is major real-life beef between Lesnar and Undertaker and that would be far more interesting to watch in my opinion.
