The Terry-Ketcham Inn, Center Moriches

The Terry-Ketcham Inn is at 81 Main St. in Center Moriches. According to the Ketcham Inn Foundation, which owns and maintains the property, the inn represents five building periods. The original building dates back to the late 1600s, when the area was settled. The Inn once housed Thomas Jefferson and James Madison while they visited William Floyd in nearby Mastic Beach around 1790. The inn, which was in continuous operation until 1989, gets its name from past owners, William Terry and Andrew Ketcham. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. (June 29, 2011)
