The high waves pushed ashore by superstorm Sandy leveled the dunes on areas of Fire Island, exposing the remains of this shipwreck east of Davis Park. Experts at the Long Island Maritime Museum believe the wooden ship is a post-Civil War cargo vessel built before 1880, and they are conducting research to try to determine which one. READ STORY
