Gov., mayor slam MTA over fare hike
The MTA could raise the base fare to $2.25 next summer a transit insider said, and Gov. Paterson and Mayor Bloomberg aren't happy about a second hike in two years.
The city can't afford to bail out the MTA, Mayor Bloomberg said, adding that the agency has to try to do more with less before he'd support a hike.
