The Long Island Rail Road said trains on three lines were operating on or close to schedule during Friday’s morning commute after delays earlier because of a vehicle striking a bridge near Westbury.
Delays in both directions of 10 to 15 minutes lasted for more than an hour on the Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson and Oyster Bay branches, the LIRR said.
The vehicle hit a bridge near the Westbury station shortly after 8 a.m. There were no injuries.VideosLIRR videosCartoonsMatt Davies' LIRR cartoons
The LIRR issued an alert at about 9:30 a.m., telling customers trains were on or close.
More than a dozen trains were immediately affected, with some delays as long as 20 minutes.
