MTA H-line logo fundraiser for Rockaway Sandy victims
To raise money for Sandy victims in the Rockaways, the MTA is selling T-shirts, sweatshirts and other items bearing the H-line logo.
The limited-edition items are available through the New York Transit Museum's online store, with all proceeds going to charity.
Local residents have dubbed the new Rockaway H-line shuttle service "The Hurricane," said Steve Stathis, president of Graybeards of Rockaway, a grassroots charity.

Sandy knocked out A train service to the ravaged area, prompting the MTA to later reintroduce the H line -- once a fixture in the 1950s.
Stathis said he remembers the original H train, which operated along six stops, connecting Broad Channel to the Rockaways, where residents boarded the A train for Manhattan.
The new fundraising effort -- managed by Graybeards -- will help bring sorely needed relief to residents, he said.
"No one was spared," Stathis said of the Oct. 29 storm. "Every house had some damage from flood or fire.
"Our mission is to collect as much money as we can to help thousands of families who are hurting right now," he said. "We have a list of names of people with their addresses, and a note as to their situation and their request."
The MTA announced the special H-line merchandise, which includes magnets and lapel pins, earlier this week.
"We have had more than 300 orders" as of Wednesday afternoon, said Darren Kornblut, president of Image Exchange, which runs the museum's online retail operation.
"It's a good cause and a good way to show support and identify with the hard-hit community of the Rockaways," he said.
