Wanted: Mall-store theft; purse snatcher

Nassau police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for the three suspects in a Valley Stream larceny case.

Police say that at 8:23 p.m. on Aug. 16, three men were seen inside the J.C. Penney store at the Green Acres Mall allegedly taking jewelry from a display stand. The estimated value is about $1,000.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at its toll-free and confidential hotline: 800-244-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers offers up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Suffolk police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for a woman who allegedly stole another woman's pocketbook at an Islandia store.

Police say that at 1 p.m. on July 30, the suspect took the pocketbook as it lay on the child seat of the victim's shopping cart inside Walmart at 1850 Veterans Hwy.

The suspect is described as in her 20s with red hair. She was wearing a T-shirt with jeans and white sneakers, and she had a gray sweatshirt tied around her waist.
