Wanted: Robbery attempt; stolen credit cards

Nassau police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for a suspect and accomplice in an East Meadow robbery attempt.

Police say that at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6, Ranier Sanchez and another man attempted to rob someone at the rear playground of McVey Elementary School at 2201 Devon St.

Sanchez, impersonating a police officer, showed the victim a small shield, and then attempted to take the person's cellphone and headphones. The victim was injured after being punched and kicked by the two suspects, according to police.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at its toll-free and confidential hotline: 800-244-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers offers up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Suffolk police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for a couple who allegedly used stolen credit cards to make purchases in the Nesconset area.

Police say that on Sept. 7, a wallet was stolen from an unlocked car parked on Robin Hood Court in Nesconset. A Visa card in that wallet was allegedly used on Sept. 8 by the suspects to make purchases at Old Navy in Lake Grove, a Gulf gas station in Nesconset and a Walmart in East Setauket, according to police.
