Suffolk police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for a man who stole a teenager's iPod in a scam.

Police say that at 3 p.m. on July 3, a man responding to a Craigslist ad came to the Selden home of a 13-year-old who was selling the iPod. The suspect asked to look at the iPod and then placed it in his pocket. He said he had to go to the bank for money. When the man gave the iPod back, police say the man switched it with another iPod that didn't work, but the boy didn't realize it until the man had left the house.

The man is described as about 5-foot-9, 220 pounds, with dark hair and some facial hair on his chin. He was driving a dark blue Volkswagen Jetta with dark tinted windows and a sunroof.

To report this or any crime, call Crime Stoppers anonymous hotline, 800-220-TIPS (8477), or text "SCPD" and message to CRIMES (274637) or visit tipsubmit.com. Callers could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000 for tips resulting in an arrest.
