One worker was killed and at least two others were injured in a partial building collapse Monday morning in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn, officials said.

A spokeswoman for The Brooklyn Hospital Center, Catherine Derr, told Newsday one man was confirmed dead -- but said there were conflicting reports about how many had been injured by pieces of the four-story residential building.

An FDNY spokeswoman said the collapse in the 200 block of Carlton Avenue was reported in a 911 call at 9:13 a.m. She said at least two of the workers had to be freed from the debris.

The building appeared to be under construction. It is located near the hospital, Pratt Institute and the Prison Ship Martyrs' Monument.

The NYPD said the cause of the collapse was unclear.
