Lord & Taylor worker at Ridge Hill assaulted by 3 masked men
Three masked men assaulted an employee at the Lord & Taylor store at the Ridge Hill Shopping Center in Yonkers early Wednesday morning and damaged a display case, but apparently fled without taking anything, police said.
"We believe they were armed," said Det. Lt. Patrick McCormack of the Yonkers police, but the type of weapons was unclear. Early reports said the men had at least two shotguns.
"It doesn't appear that the men removed anything," he said, though they damaged a display case in the jewelry section of the store.
Police were notified at 6:16 a.m.
It was unclear how the men, who fled in a vehicle, entered the store, which was not yet open, McCormack said.
The male employee who was assaulted was treated for minor injuries and released from a hospital, McCormack said.
Detectives were interviewing security officials at the shopping center and checking records from video cameras. The investigation is "very fluid," he added.
Police said they have no description of the assailants.
Ridge Hill management said in a statement that the robbery attempt did not delay store openings and that the center is open for business.
