Man killed by police in Castle Hill shootout

Shots were exchanged and the suspect was struck and declared dead at the scene.

THE BRONX - The NYPD has confirmed that officers shot and killed a suspect following a shooting in Castle Hill last night.

Police say that two officers were responding to call about a shooting at the Castle Hill houses at around 11 p.m. They say a man who fit the description of the suspect ran from them. Shots were exchanged and the suspect was struck and declared dead at the scene.

Multiple officers were taken to hospitals, which police say is routinely done after a shooting.

Police are still investigating at the intersection of Randall and Olmstead avenues, where they have been searching for evidence since last night.
