THE BRONX - Cops are searching for a man who attacked a mother after she confronted him about lewd behavior on a city bus.

Investigators released surveillance images of the suspect, who they say threatened a 27-year-old woman with a knife after she told him to stop masturbating in public and alerted the driver.

It happened aboard the Bx2 bus at around 6 p.m. on July 9 while the woman was with her children, but no one was injured.

Police say the mother struggled with the man, grabbing his hand to defend herself. The bus driver pulled over at the Grand Concourse and 171st Street in Mount Eden, and the suspect ran off.

The MTA said in a statement, "The safety of our customers is always a top priority. We work closely with the NYPD." A spokesperson also pointed out new protections, including cameras and operator shields.
