The station's owner Brian Barton says the money was supposed to go to a Stony Brook camp for kids with cancer. It had just $15 to $20 inside.

Barton says a new donation jar has been secured on the gas station’s counter top.

Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
