A Middletown man was jailed after a dispute over a parking space turned violent, state police said.

Sean Beach, 32, got into an altercation with another shopper in the parking lot of a WalMart store Wednesday on Route 211 in the Town of Wallkill, police said.

The two men argued over a parking spot outside the store, police said.

Beach then threatened the man with a weapon, police said. Information on the type of weapon was not immediately available.

State police were called and they arrested Beach.

He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in Wallkill Town Court and pleaded not guilty. He was ordered held at the Orange County Jail in Goshen in lieu of $25,000 bail.

A lawyer for Beach could not be located.
