The western neighbor of Montauk Point State Park, this county preserve features a number of historically important sites, such as a Montaukett Village, Third House and Deep Hollow Ranch (the first and oldest working cattle ranch in the United States). It also has environmental importance, as it contains the Big Reed Pond National Natural Landmark, an ecosystem that marks where brackish and fresh water meet. Features include campgrounds, beaches, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, hunting, hiking and horseback riding. Cross-country skiing trails (weather permitting)
