A New Rochelle man will be arraigned Monday for allegedly stabbing his neighbor, police told News12.

New Rochelle police arrested Sylvester Hendricks, 37, on Saturday after they were called to his apartment building around 9:30 a.m. They found the victim, whose name and age were not released, with knife wounds to the back of his neck and face.

Officials are trying to determine whether the incident occurred during a dispute in a hallway inside the building, on Fourth Street near St. John's Place, or whether it happened outside.

The victim was unarmed during the altercation, police said. He was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where he was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Police recovered the knife, but details on the blade's size and type were not immediately available.

Hendricks will be charged with first-degree assault in New Rochelle City Court, police said.

No previous incidents between the two neighbors that involved the police had been reported, officials said.
