The City of New Rochelle has been lauded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its fiscal 2011 financial report.

For the 22nd consecutive year, New Rochelle has been given the association's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting.

"We commend our Finance Department for once again receiving such a distinguished honor," City Manager Charles Strome said in a news release Monday. "This award is a tribute to their professionalism and integrity."

The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit organization serving some 17,500 government finance professionals. The certificate is said to demonstrate a constructive "spirit of full disclosure."

Copies of the certificate can be found online at, at the city clerk's office in City Hall and at the New Rochelle Public Library.
