A fight that broke out early Saturday morning outside a Newburgh club sent several people to the hospital and resulted in one arrest, police said.
A "very, very large crowd" of several hundred people gathered at the Club Ole Bar and Grill at 829 Boulevard Friday night to watch R&B singer Omarion perform, but authorities were forced to respond throughout the night to various fights, said Newburgh Police Sgt. Rich Carrion. After the bar closed, another fight broke out in the parking lot shortly after 3 a.m., leaving three people with injuries severe enough to send them to the hospital, Carrion said.
One man, whose name and age were not released, was kicked and stomped, causing injuries to his head and body and requiring medevac transport to Westchester Medical Center.
Ardae Hines, 24, of Newburgh, was charged with gang assault in the first degree, Carrion said. He was already wanted for a shooting in Newburgh earlier in the month, and was in custody Saturday morning awaiting arraignment, Carrion said.
Charges have not been filed against the club, and the investigation is ongoing, Carrion said.
