UPDATE: Pilot Walks Away From Ada Plane Crash
Plane Crash (May 9, 2008)
ADA TOWNSHIP - A scary scene for a group of neighbors living along Egypt Valley Avenue in Ada Township tonight, after a plane was forced to make a crash landing in a backyard.
The plane was a single engine Cessna carrier for FedEx, which was on it's way to Grand Rapids from Traverse City to pick up some freight.
The pilot reported several warning lights turning on and the engine losing power. Following proper procedure, he attempted to restart the engine, but was unsuccessful.
The pilot made an emergency landing in an open field, striking several trees and damaging the nose and left wing of the plane upon impact.
Luckily, he was able to exit the plane and sustained no injuries.
