Foster out for season

Texans coach Bill O'Brien said that running back Arian Foster is out for the season with an Achilles tendon injury.

Foster was hurt without being hit late in Sunday's 44-26 loss to Miami. He was in motion when he fell at the beginning of a play.

He missed the first three games after tearing a groin muscle in camp. He hasn't played 16 games since 2012 after missing three last year and sitting out eight in 2013 after back surgery.

The Lions (1-6) fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and line coaches Jeremiah Washburn and Terry Heffernan. The moves came shortly before the Lions were supposed to depart for London, where they'll play Sunday against the Chiefs.

Quarterbacks coach Jim Bob Cooter will become offensive coordinator, and tight ends coach Ron Prince will coach the line.

No punishment for Hardy

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he won't discipline defensive end Greg Hardy over a physical confrontation with one of his assistants on the sideline.

As for the criticism over Hardy's shoving match with special teams coach Rich Bisaccia after the Giants' fourth-quarter kickoff return for a touchdown, Garrett said, "It was not a big deal from anybody inside our football team and inside this building."-- AP
