GOP political adviser quits after 'hurl some acid' remark

Consultant Jay Townsend, who was the Republican-Conservative nominee against Democratic Sen. Charles Schumer in 2010, has quit the campaign of Republican Rep. Nan Hayworth in the 19th District due to a nasty Facebook posting that stirred a tempest in which he said "Let’s hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators" who won't abide mandates they impose on the private sector. Townsend has emphatically apologized.

The 19th District serves some or  all of collar counties just north of New York City
