Att. Gen. Holder turns to ex-Schumer aide for damage control
The beleaguered U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is turning to a spokesman trained by Sen. Chuck Schumer - known for his aggressive and often canny news media strategies - to help him ride out what looks like a rough series of Congressional hearings on a series of Republican charges.
Brian Fallon, 31, who has been with Schumer for six years will start later this summer, the Wall Street Journal reported. Fallon will replace Tracy Schmaler, who left in March. Fallon's move to Justice shows Schumer's confidence in his ability to deal with a tough situation. It also expands Schumer's web of former aides place throughout government and the private sector.
Fallon excelled at laying out his boss's case in a straightforward and logical way while working for the senior New York Democratic senator. He is expected to stay with Schumer until the immigration bill passes the Senate.
