Bio
Pulitzer prize-winning columnist Jimmy Breslin, who has covered the city for more
than 40 years, is best known for his hard-hitting observations about life in New York.
Born in Jamaica, Queens, he began his career as a copyboy at the Long Island Press
and worked as a sportswriter for several papers including the New York Journal-
American and the New York Herald Tribune, and as a columnist at The New York Post.
Prior to joining Newsday in 1988, Breslin was the lead columnist at the New York
Daily News. In addition to his distinguished journalism career, Breslin is an
accomplished author. His best-selling books include: "The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot
Straight"; "World Without End, Amen"; "How The Good Guys Finally Won"; "Table Money";
"He Got Hungry" and "Forgot His Manners"; and "Damon Runyon, A Life."
No stranger to the large and small screen, Breslin is a frequent commentator on a
variety of network television shows and has had roles in feature films.
Breslin lives in Manhattan with his wife, Ronnie Eldridge.
