Canseco surprised A-Rod is not on Mitchell's list

During yesterday's Fox Business Network's "Happy Hour," Jose Canseco had an observation concerning a current, very prominent Yankee. When asked whether Alex Rodriguez should have been mentioned in the Mitchell Report, Canseco responded: "All I can say is the Mitchell Report is incomplete. I could not believe that his name was not in the report."

Earlier in the afternoon, as Mitchell was prepared to release his report, Canseco attempted to enter the news conference. Canseco, a virtual certainty to be named in the report, was turned down by Major League Baseball officials.

"It's OK," Canseco said, smiling. "I'm not in the media."

Canseco, whose 2005 book "Juiced" set off a chain of events that led to the current tougher drug-testing plan, said he was coincidentally staying in the same hotel, the Grand Hyatt, where the news conference was being held. Doug Ames, Canseco's business manager, said the former slugger was in town to announce a deal for his book "Vindicated," the sequel to "Juiced," in which Canseco detailed his own steroid usage and that of fellow players.

Canseco said he met with Mitchell "a long time ago."
