DA: Could have been 'mass casualty situation'
The suspended Long Island Rail Road engineer accused of allowing a passenger to operate a packed rush-hour train could have caused "a mass casualty situation," Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice said Friday as she announced an aggressive criminal probe of the incident.
