Ex-head of Liberal Party charged in pay-to-play scandal

The former head of New York's Liberal Party was charged Wednesday with receiving more than $800,000 in illegal fees linked to a "pay-to-play" scandal at the state pension fund.

The charges were announced by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who is investigating allegations of corruption at the $150 billion fund during the tenure of former State Comptroller Alan Hevesi.
