First girl in state wrestling finals
Charlene Sluberski of Fredonia (VI) became the first female in state history to qualify for a state final. Sluberski, a three-time national freestyle champion in girls wrestling, won three straight bouts to reach the Division II 96-pound championship against Jacob Goddeau of Peru (VII).
