An American Airlines flight landed at Kennedy Airport Monday afternoon with an odor of fuel in the cabin, and a runway was closed while the cause was investigated, the Port Authority said.

About 4:10 p.m., Flight 160 from San Diego landed on runway 22 right at Kennedy. The Boeing 767 with 195 passengers and nine crew members on board landed without incident, and passengers were still inside the jet, which was sitting on the runway, according to Matt Miller, a spokesman for American Airlines. There were no injuries, said Ron Marsico, a Port Authority spokesman.

An FAA spokeswoman said that the pilot had contacted the tower about a problem but didn't specify the nature of the problem.

A fuel leak was detected as the plane was parked, and airport officials planned to tow the plane from the runway, Marsico said.
