Warrior Diet taps the hunter/gatherer in all of us
It's all in how you look at things. Take a slice of pizza for example.
Fighting the Bulge: The Flat Belly Diet
Women despise their belly fat. They try to battle belly bulge with several hundred crunches, strict diets, and the latest gym class fad. However many are still unable to acquire a trim waistline. Enter the Flat Belly Diet, written by Prevention Editor-in-Chief, Liz Vaccariello (along with Nutrition Director Cynthia Sass), with a tempting title that lures women with the promise to help those 40+ lose the body fat around their midsection that just doesn't seem to budge.
Women's Health Perfect Body Diet
Of all the women's magazines out there now, I count Women's Health as a pretty reputable one whose fitness and diet advice has been consistently sound without offering any crazy promises of shedding pounds while eating nothing but orange food. So when its editors with Cassandra Forsythe, MS came out with the Perfect Body Diet, I had pretty high expectations. Despite the book's daunting size (339 pp.), there was surprisingly little fluff material. The majority of its pages were sample menus, recipes, daily meal plans and detailed descriptions of exercises complete with photos.

The red wine diet
It is widely accepted that red wine can improve your cardiovascular health. However, few people fully understand why it is so good for you and how to maximize the beverage's health benefits.

The Anti-Estrogenic Diet
At first glance, "The Anti-Estrogenic Diet" looks like a plan to rid oneself of certain feminine influences. A closer look, however, reveals that author Ori Hofmekler has discovered certain chemicals compounds in our food wreak havoc on our health, causing weight gain, estrogen disorders in women, sterilization in men and sometimes cancer. Hofmekler, author of The Warrior Diet, wants his "Anti-Estrogenic Diet" to rid us of those problems.

Choking on an all-cookie diet
When you hear about the cookie diet, your first thought may be: it's a gimmick.

The fitness challenge
The prospect of trying a diet certainly wasn't intriguing. I try to eat as healthily as I can (cereal for breakfast, salad or sandwich for lunch, usually some kind of protein for dinner), but everyone has their slip-ups. And between goodies constantly making their way into the amNewYork office and nights out at restaurants and bars, I certainly like to let myself indulge sometimes.

The Idealist's Diet
In an ideal world, we would all wear a size two, be able to run a mile in five minutes, and have a personal chef to prepare us three meals a day with snacks in between. Unfortunately, the world we live in is far from ideal. That's why The Good Mood Diet, while wonderful in theory, falls short in its execution.

Celeb trainer: Cardio kills, weights rule
Thanks to Jim Karas, author of "The Cardio-Free Diet," you will never find me on a treadmill. Ever. To think, I can lose weight, keep it off, and even change my body composition without ever hitting a Stairmaster again.

Close your eyes youre getting thinner
Does hypnosis work for weight loss? I thought I'd put it to the test by visiting The Hypnosis Center in midtown, and was surprised by the results: Yes, it works if you think it will work.

Smash the fat
I'm not much for dieting, but having packed on a little extra "cushioning" (just in time for bathing suit season), I started subjecting myself to several extreme diets in a vain attempt to lose weight.

The Snack Factor Diet
I'd never been on a diet before, but since I was a little heavier than I wanted to be and my gym membership had expired, I decided to give the Snack Factor Diet a try.

In-your-face diet is serious about skinny
"Skinny Bitch," I am not. Tall one, sure. Rich one, maybe someday. But, skinny one? Not a chance, though that might change with the new health book, "Skinny Bitch: A no-nonsense tough-love guide for savvy girls, who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous."

The F-Factor diet
I must admit, when I first cracked open "The F-Factor Diet," a high-fiber treatise written by Tanya Zuckerbrot, a New York-based private nutritionist, I did so with entirely too much arrogance.

Taking the Special K challenge
The rules of the Special K diet are simple: substitute two meals a day with the Kellogg's cereal or meal bars and -- Voila! Drop six pounds in two weeks.

Shangri-La Diet
The Shangri-La Diet is based on the idea that the human body has a natural "set point" -- an ideal weight that your body tends toward. Seth Roberts, Ph.D., the diet's author argues that this set point can be manipulated, like a thermostat.
DIETER'S DIARY
Ultra-Metabolism diet
I'm not a diet person. Period. In fact, I view the term "diet" much like any other four-letter word.
The South Beach Diet
As a woman of (ahem) years (suffice to say I'm not in my 20s anymore, or alas, even my 30s), I have found, of late, my middle getting a little thicker. As a result, I figured it was time to try something new, namely, a diet. The South Beach Diet, developed by Miami's Dr. Arthur Agatson, appealed to me mainly because I'm a sugar-holic, and his program of banning "bad carbs" and foods with a high glycemic index stood a chance of curbing my out-of-control sweet tooth.
The Reverse Diet
Now that spring has finally arrived (thank God) and summer lurks on the horizon, visions of summer dresses and bikinis dance in my head.

French Women Don't Get Fat
Diets, much like film noir, are often black and white studies of sensuality and menace. In both cases, pleasurable pursuits (like, say, pain au chocolate) are often met with dire consequences.
3-Hour Diet touts small, frequent meals
There is an instinct among dieters to cut down eating in order to cut down on weight. I've known many to take this to the extreme - limiting meals to one a day perhaps in a bid at model thinness.

The Glycemic Index Diet
If you can understand a stoplight, you can understand this diet. That's the claim of this Canadian bestseller by Rick Gallop, the former Chairman of the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
